For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8 NKJV
When you contemplate the sacrifice that Jesus has made and became for us; it is nothing short of overwhelming. It is by far the greatest proof of love, the biggest statement of selflessness. Having no fault of his own, He came here to teach us how to lead a life of righteousness, a life with upstanding morals. A life, where you can look at yourself in the mirror and feel good about the reflection you see; because the reflection you see it's the one painted with his blood.
He came here and did all that he did, died the most gruesome and shameful death, so that we can be made anew and brought back to God; so that he can see us in his original plan before Adam and Eve were lied to.
Not a word came out of his mouth in protest, he kept his eyes on the promise of the joy of what was to be; He endured all the pain, the wrath, the mocking, the death, the separation so that you and I can be reunited, restored, with and to God.
He took up on him every disease, every sickness, every sin, so that you and I are no longer bound by the oppression of this world but if you know the truth then it can truly set you free.
In the book Angels on Assignment by Roland Buck; he gives such a clear description of what Jesus endured on himself for our salvation. Even the most incredulous would shed a tear or two providing the heart is in the right place.
It never ceases to surprise me how desensitized we have become to this truth, to His pain for us. Is it because we deem ourselves not worthy of such love? Or because we cannot comprehend the extent of his love for us; which is capable of such a wondrous act? Is it perhaps because we would not sacrifice ourselves even sometimes for loved ones?
Is it really so hard to delight in the Lord?
5 Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works
Which You have done;
And Your thoughts toward us
Cannot be recounted to You in order;
If I would declare and speak of them,
They are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;
My ears You have opened.
Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.
7 Then I said, “Behold, I come;
In the scroll of the book it is written of me.
8 I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heart.”
9 I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness
In the great assembly;
Indeed, I do not restrain my lips,
O Lord, You Yourself know.
10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;
I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth
From the great assembly.
Psalm 40:5-10 NKJV
Some people die not ever coming to the realization that they were truly loved by God, they die without this knowledge, without ever coming to get to know his works in depth, they depart in the silence of a life not really lived, because, a life lived without knowing God, is indeed a life not lived. For He says, I am the Way, the Truth and The Life.
So my invitation to you is, get to know him, take ownership of his proof of love to you, he died 2000 years ago so that you can experience the freedom he purchased with his own blood today. The Truth of then is still the Truth today. He loved you and still loves you, he bought eternity for you with his own life, he came as man to show you how life can be made simple, He showed us how to equip ourselves against all the odds, how to face adversity, how to love, to be kind, how to be generous, how to be faithful, loyal, joyful and hopeful.
Above all, when he left, he assured us and gave to us his Spirit so that we do not ever have to be alone, fight alone, strive alone, but we can have guidance, support, comfort, a teacher and advocate at all times, till eternity comes to pass.
What a wonderful God I serve!
God bless you all!
