"I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser.
2 Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.
3 You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you].(John 15:1-3)
As you pursue a life with Him; where you get to follow his commands, when he asks you to share the news of His amazing love; the sacrifice of the cross He has made so that you and I could be reconciled back to him. As you venture into this incredible journey, where His words become a dialogue with your soul, that His presence is tangible and what He says resonates to the depths of your quest.
You come to understand that bearing fruit is about sharing the joy you have received as you have encountered Him and His salvation; and in that, you also want others to share in this miracle, which is Christ in you the Hope of glory and eternal life by His side. For before this crucial moment, existence was just fleeting as the breath you take. Condemned to a fate not made by Him we were before we surrendered to Him, for that was never part of His plan. God in all his intelligent splendor would not perfect creation only to sacrifice it at the end.
For it is written:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV)
As such, let's not reduce God to our limited preconception of life or His plan for that matter. For, it was lust for power, disobedience and leaning on our understanding that brought to a halt all that He had designed for our inheritance. At that turning point, where mankind surrendered to the enticing invitation to sin, to go against life and love itself, that's where we find ourselves still stuck today.
We look for meaning in the wrong places, we live in the shallows of existence, many of us never venture to go deep into our own healing, let alone get to immerse oneself in the unsearchable depths of God. We live half lives, where surviving is considered living; where we believe struggles are at the expense of peace and that joy only comes when financial security and time are finally walking side by side.
We lost the ability to look up to the hill.
"I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. Psalms 121:1-2 (NKJV)
God never expected us to lead our lives alone, for in the time of Eden; Adam had the privilege to hear the steps of God walking in the garden in the coolness of the day. Christ in all his glory, left it all behind just to walk as man on earth so that we could be restored to that plan; the plan where we can be in his presence again, to have fellowship, to experience the fullness of God; to be complete in Him.
And He says:
"Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.
6 If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you." (John 15:4-7)
As you read the promises in these scriptures and how He longs to cherish and be cherished by us, how He encourages us to stay close, how He assures us that whatever we may ask He will provide. It begs the question; why should we worry?! for God is ready to be there for us in every season, He made provision before and after Adam, He counteracted the enemy's plan by giving His only begotten son to trade place with us, as He took upon Himself death on the cross, he bore all our sins and sickness so that we could be spared, and He overcame death so that we could return to the original plan.
When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.
9 I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [[a]continue in His love with Me].
10 If you keep My commandments [if you continue to obey My instructions], you will abide in My love and live on in it, just as I have obeyed My Father’s commandments and live on in His love.
11 I have told you these things, that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be of full measure and complete and overflowing.
12 This is My commandment: that you love one another [just] as I have loved you.
13 No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends.
14 You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do. (John 15:1-14 AMPC)
Indeed no one has greater love than He; who laid His own life for you and me! My invitation to you today is to step out in faith and allow yourself to have the most amazing experience you will ever come across in this life. Get to know the Creator and not be overwhelmed by His creation. God has created you for greater things, not a mediocre life where you are born, grow old just to die not knowing what He had prepared for you. Please don't allow yourself to be fooled by the nonsensical world with skewed values we live in. For Jesus said, I came to give life and life more abundantly. Surviving is not living; it's dragging yourself everyday trying to make sense of why you are here!
When you come to understand the second greatest command He gave to love your neighbor as yourself. It means that once you have a revelation that you can only give what you have, and that to give a great love, requires that you give yourself the best, well, I gave myself Jesus, I chose Him and that's when Love became real. What will you choose? I hope you don't settle for creation when you can choose the Creator!
