Like the beautifully written novel by Jane Austen - Pride & Prejudice where the characters with less means are looked and treated with inferiority and disdain ; in today's blog we will dive into what the bible says about these characteristics Pride & Arrogance; and how they hinder spiritual growth, maturity and destroy relationships.
A proud and haughty man - "Scoffer" is his name; He acts with arrogant pride. (Prov. 21:24)
Ego-Delusional is a man who operates under such predicament, he is destitute of self awareness, certainty of his achievements has blinded his judgement making him unable and unwilling to learn new things as he considers in his idea of success that it is derived and resulting only from his own deeds and ability. He upholds his knowledge and capacity in high regard, having no sense of humility.
Proverbs 25:27 It is not good to eat much honey; so also for men to search after their own glory is not glory.
With such, his spiritual growth is halted, his relationships are hindered, shallow and of the same kind, as the Bible says in:
Proverbs 19:4 Wealth makes many “friends”; poverty drives them all away.
Many have lost their way, their soul; in pursuit of power, money, fame and some even lost their lives. Riches is as fleeting as an eagle; says Proverb 23:5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
So let's not be foolish to subject our lives to only store up for ourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36
Our lives are so much more than what our eyes can gaze, than our minds can conjure. We have the most amazing example of a man who treaded these soils and left a mark through eternity, his deeds are preached to this day, his glory is ever present for all to see, his character is the most impeccable like the world has never seen. His promises are kept as thousands feel the power of his blessings in their lives, his love is more real than the wind that blows on your face.
Lives are transformed everyday under his presence; healing miracles are reported all over the world by those who believe. So why should you live a lesser life, a life in which you need to hide your insecurities and inadequacies under pride and arrogance, in the illusion that the trained eyes or the mature spirit cannot see, and the only one being fooled is the ego, the man in the mirror.
Jesus came not to condemn but to give life and life in abundance. There is nothing more satisfying in life than to feel complete in him, than to know that the search is over, our inner void is filled with him the only one who can fill it; to be whole and lack nothing. To feel loved and more than good enough, to have a purpose and a place. He came to restore us to God's original plan for us, to give us eternal life, to seat with him in heavenly places, to be heirs in his kingdom and much more...
"...He began to teach them, saying,
3 “Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].
4 “Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are those who mourn [over their sins and repent], for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted].
5 “Blessed [inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are the [b]gentle [the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.
7 “Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
8 “Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God.
9 “Blessed [spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons of God.
10 “Blessed [comforted by inner peace and God’s love] are those who are persecuted for [c]doing that which is morally right, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].
11 “Blessed [morally courageous and spiritually alive with life-joy in God’s goodness] are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil things against you because of [your association with] Me. 12 Be glad and exceedingly joyful, for your reward in heaven is great [absolutely inexhaustible]; for in this same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you"
The time is now, repent today and turn to him while you can, experience a life where you are all that he has made you to be! Filled with his love and glory!
When you are ready to invite him into your life then please read the following prayer with a believing heart and confessing out loud with your lips, say:
" Dear Lord Jesus,
Come into my heart, forgive me of my sins, wash me cleanse me, set me free. Jesus thank you that you died for me, I believe that you have risen from the dead and that you are coming back again for me. Fill me with the Holy Spirit; give me a passion for the lost and a hunger for the things of God, give me a holy boldness to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I am saved, I am born again, I am forgiven and I am on my way to heaven because I have Jesus in my life." Amen
